THE POWER OF ENCOURAGEMENT
13th Aug 2014
We were travelling in the car when the phone rang. We have a Parrot Hands Free device, and I listened as Charles talked through a problem with the guy who looks after the technical side of our website, emailer etc. When the call ended Charles turned to me and said, “Nick is one of the most helpful guys I know, always cheerful, always going the extra mile, making you feel nothing is too much trouble. If he says he will ring you back, he does, and it is a pleasure to work with him.” My response was, “Great!”, and then, “Have you ever said that to him?” We often think good things but seldom speak them out.
Our journey that day was to be present at the celebration of the Kingdom Faith Training College’s 30th Anniversary during the Faith Camp at Peterborough. As we attended the evening reception many people came over and encouraged us with testimonies of what had happened to them at Faith Camps many years in the past. Some people we knew well, others were complete strangers but had been in Seminars we had given, and often their encouragement was prefaced with, “I’ve never told you this, but.....”
We all need encouragement, some more than others. So seek to be a person who speaks out praises and gives honour. Your words of encouragement can literally give new strength and hope to those around you.
Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds..... and let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
