DEMONSTRATE THE KINGDOM
18th May 2016
Recently our son Daniel was attending a city wide Minister’s Meeting in Bristol. The gathering was being addressed by Randy Clark, a minister associated with the “Toronto Blessing.” He proved to be a humble man, who had seen God at work in many signs and wonders and was encouraging ministers and clergy to “Let God be God.”
A young minister was sitting with Daniel and asked, “Have you ever seen a miracle?” indicating that he never had! The answer he received was “Yes”. Daniel had grown up in an atmosphere where the supernatural was the norm. The question was in itself both shocking and illuminating. We have a generation of Christians who have not seen God’s power in action.
The early church preached the word and demonstrated that the Kingdom of God was here by their actions. Hebrews 2:3-4 says, “This salvation which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”
Daniel writes in our May 2016 newsletter, “Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighbourhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.”
“These words were said by Jesus to the disciples as He sent them out to put into practice what they had learnt from Him. It's no less of a challenge to us as we review what our lives should really be about. This month we not only have a chance to experience some of this, but also to put it into practice.”
Last Sunday, Ian Andrews was our guest speaker and we experienced many healings and miracles. Our church is also having a 24/7 prayer week, and then later in the month, together with all the churches in Clevedon we have an event “Hope in the Square” where we can demonstrate God’s amazing kingdom to others.
