THE COMING KING
21st Sep 2022
I awoke singing - “King of kings, Majesty, God of Heaven living in me, Gentle Saviour, closest friend, Strong Deliverer, beginning and end. All within me falls at Your throne. Your Majesty, I can but bow I lay my all before You now, in royal robes I don’t deserve I live to serve your Majesty.”
Queen Elizabeth is reported to have said that she hoped Jesus would return while she was still alive so she could cast her crown at His feet. How much do you and I expect Him to return?
Do you think about it, imagine what it would be like to hear the trumpet blast and see the Son of God coming through the clouds clothed with such glory that mankind will be over whelmed. (Revelation 1:7)
A friend of mine married into a Jewish family. She assured her in-laws that they need not worry about her leading their son astray, as she, despite being a gentile, declared that she had no faith. Some time later both she and her husband were radically saved, in love with Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit.
However, the Friday “Shabbat” meal was very important to her husband's parents and they both agreed to be present on a regular basis. They felt led by Jesus to participate in these weekly meals and that they would see Him in these ancient traditions. She asked many questions of her parents-in-law and also the Holy Spirit. Her understanding of the New Testament with Jewish understanding is revelational.
She has explained betrothal to me, telling how the bridegroom would go to prepare and build a home for his bride to be, and when his father had approved the home and declared it ready, the bridegroom could return, marry and bring his bride to the new home. In the meantime she waited his return, but no one knew when, it was only the father who would send the bridegroom to collect his betrothed when all was ready.
So Matthew 24:42 becomes very real, “Keep watch because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” Jesus also says, “No one knows the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Jesus has promised to come back for His bride, and He will come as King of kings, splendid in Majesty, glory and power. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)
So read again the promises of His second coming, get excited and expectant and look for opportunities to tell your friends about a Saviour who was, and is, and is to come.
