CARRYING JESUS
09th Oct 2024
Do you ever think about Who and What you are carrying? Believers in Jesus, who have received His risen life are carrying Him and all He is, into whatever they face in life. Where you go, He goes, and has the potential to completely change situations because of who He is.
He is peace and His presence can totally change and defuse toxic situations. He is wisdom and one word from His mouth can totally transform and re-direct, when confusion reigns. He is light, and His presence can penetrate the darkness of sorrow, grief, trauma and despair, and bring hope, because He is the life-giver.
He is the burden bearer and wonderfully takes the weight of whatever you are carrying. He is the prince of peace and confronts all forces and circumstances opposed to peace, robbing them of the power to torment.
You and I carry this risen, victorious Jesus, He lives in us, goes with us and we carry Him wherever we go!
One time a friend and I found ourselves in a leaders’ group in Ghana. We had no understanding of the language, but it became evident that there was some serious disagreement among those present. Angry faces and tones of voice dominated the proceedings - but - we carried Jesus and prayed He would settle the situation.
After a while I felt the Holy Spirit lay a passage of scripture on my heart and asked the leader whether I could read it. I can’t remember the details, but it spoke to the root of whatever their argument was about, and harmony was restored, and the atmosphere of hostility banished. Jesus became the peace maker.
Some years ago, we invited an estate agent to value our house and give us advice on things needing to be done before we put it on the market. He pointed out a few details to be dealt with, and then surprised us by saying that as he walked through the door it was the positive atmosphere that he noticed which would do most to sell the house!
Last week we attended a very sad funeral of a young woman who had been involved in a fatal road accident. It was tragic, but the presence of Jesus in believers brought hope, light and peace.
The next day we attended a very beautiful wedding. Two believers, who had be bereaved many years, were married and the joy and love was tangible. Jesus was there, peace filled the venue and we all felt it. Healing and hope.
Psalm 16:11 says, “In your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures for evermore.”
