CALL TO ME
15th Dec 2021
In Jeremiah 33:3 God speaks and tells Jeremiah the prophet, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Things you could never figure out on your own.
I find myself confronted with situations which cannot be solved with human resources, we need heavenly answers. Jesus lived by the instructions given from heaven and what He did and said had supernatural results. If ever there was a time when we need direction from heaven it is now! How do we pray? What action should we take? What words of comfort or command can we give?
I’ve been thinking about characters in the Bible who when faced with life threatening circumstances met with God in a new way, and that changed everything.
Daniel faced death, his own and that of his colleagues, unless he could interpret Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. He urged his friends to plead for mercy from God so that the mystery would be revealed and lives saved. The dream and its interpretation came to Daniel in a vision. Read his heartfelt praise in Daniel 2:20-23
Jacob, on the night before facing his brother Esau, took himself off on his own. Esau had his private army and could have taken revenge for Jacob’s lying and cheating behaviour. The threat is real, however God meets with Jacob, he fights with God in the form of a man and utters these words, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” Somehow he knew that unless God intervened in this situation he had no hope. Read Genesis 32:22-32
Jesus faced all sorts of opposition, death threats and misunderstanding. Hebrews 5:7 tells us, “He offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.” He waited for instructions when Lazarus died and then acted on what he heard from heaven.
There are keys to unlock each individual set of circumstances we are dealing with, but we need to seek and find, to call, to ask for mercy and find help in our time of need.
Again we need a new understanding of God’s Almighty power, unlimited knowledge and obedience to act on what He reveals. This is the basis of miracles, signs and wonders for which we are longing.
