KEEP FAITH IN THE BIG PICTURE
04th Mar 2015
Have you ever felt that you have been obedient to the Lord’s directions and the result is not what you expected? It’s easy to panic and wonder if you have got everything wrong? I have, and I find myself in good company. God always sees the “Big Picture” and what He has decreed will happen.
Moses was told he was to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. In Exodus 3:12, God says, “When you (Moses) have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” Moses knew the prophetic words spoken to Abraham, “The whole land of Canaan, where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants...” (Genesis 17:8)
These prophesies were in the process of being fulfilled, when God directed Moses to go into the desert territory and there was no water! It was a serious situation and the people were wanting to kill Moses. Moses cried out in prayer. “What do I do?” He was given detailed instructions, which when followed and obeyed lead to water gushing out of a rock. He could have panicked, but I believe he held onto his faith in the promises of God, i.e. “The Big Picture.”
Likewise Paul, who the Lord stood near and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.” (Acts 23:11) At his conversion, Ananias had told him that God had “handpicked him to carry His name before Gentiles and their kings, and before the people of Israel.... and to suffer for the name of Jesus.’ (Acts 9:15-16)
He knew he would survive the mobs, shipwrecks and every obstacle put in his path, because he held on to his faith in the “Big Picture.”
What has God promised you? It is good to remind yourself, and take courage when life seems frustrating and hard. He will fulfil His plans and the destiny He has for you.
