ALWAYS PREPARED?
31st Dec 2014
There is a verse in 1 Peter 3:15 that is a constant challenge, it says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” As believers we can feel a pressure to always be looking out for an opportunity to share our faith.
However, most often the situation presents itself suddenly and unexpectedly, as happened to our friends Maldwyn and Carole just a few days ago. Maldwyn writes: “Last night I was driving over the Rhigos mountain through some snow and black ice. It was freezing, we came across a guy and his girlfriend who were in great distress, they had skidded on black ice and rolled over on the mountain, their car was wrecked. She was crying, shivering, bleeding and in shock; he said his chest was hurting and was hunting among the wreckage for his phone. She just kept saying nobody would stop to help us.”
“Our Rebekah then helped her across the icy road into our warm car and Carole, my wife, got out the first aid kit to help stop the bleeding on her hands and wrapped a warm blanket around her shoulders, while I helped to look for the phone. Their windows were all smashed, the air bags had blown and their belongings were strewn over the side of the mountain. Well we prayed for them and thanked God for a Miracle.”
“They warmed up and eventually she stopped crying and shaking after such a traumatic experience and even smiled as I took a photo. They were so thankful and asked us what our names were. After telling them I gave her a magazine and said we are in there, have a read when this is all over. Eventually the police came and they were taken to Hospital. We assured the family they would be OK. The parents sent us a lovely heartwarming text for stopping to help them. Afterwards we all thanked God for healing them and being in the right place at the right time to help them just like the Good Samaritan.”
Mal & Carole and their daughter Rebekah live in Treorchy, and we have enjoyed preaching in the churches they lead in Newport and Treorchy. They produce a magazine full of wonderful life changing testimonies.
God has opportunities for each of us in 2015 - let’s always be prepared.
