RESURRECTION LIFE
03rd Apr 2024
We have just had the Easter weekend. How have you spent it? What have you done? Many of us have gathered with other believers in Church and may well have joined in the declaration, “He has risen!” to which we have responded, “He is risen, indeed!”
What difference has this made to your life? Is it religions liturgy, or is it entering into a new dimension of life. Paul declares in Philippians 3:10, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.” What in practical terms is knowing, “the power of his resurrection”?
Many years ago when we were part of the ministry led by Colin Urquhart, and our children were quite young, Colin had been teaching about the resurrection and the power of the Spirit filled life. As Joyce was praying with one of our children at bedtime, he declared, “I’m not just human, I’m superhuman.” Quite a declaration from a youngster!
So now the Easter weekend is in the past, what does the resurrection mean to each of us in our daily lives? We believers have been brought into a completely new dimension of life. Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
This new life means victory over sin, it means we have been completely forgiven, it means we can live lives that are pleasing to Him. It means His peace will dispel our anxiety. It means His wisdom from above will counteract confusion and doubt. It means we can be filled with His Spirit every day so that we can live with His power not our own human strength.
So what is your Easter declaration going to mean for your everyday life in the year ahead?
